About Melanie Breault
I am currently working as the Communications Associate at the Association for Neighborhood and Housing Development (ANHD), a membership organization of New York City non-profit neighborhood housing groups whose mission is to ensure flourishing neighborhoods and decent, affordable housing for all New Yorkers. I am also the Web Editor and Social Media Specialist for Sandi Klein's Conversations with Creative Women, a weekly podcast that captures the fire and energy, humor, heart, soul and impact of the female creative experience. In my free time, I am on the Board of Women, Action, and the Media (WAM!NYC), a nonprofit dedicated to building a movement for gender justice in media and working with the Planners Network, an association of progressive planning, on their newest project titled, Progressive City: Radical Alternatives. When I'm not focusing on social justice issues as they relate to anti-displacement, housing as a human right, and community-based planning, I am writing about women's health and reproductive justice. My writing has been published on sites such as TheNation.com, Mic.com, and Rewire.
I obtained my master's degree in Urban Policy and Planning from Hunter College concentrating in Community and Economic Development, but my background is in political and economic journalism, specifically for independent media outlets.
